Ok, I’m much happier with this book than I was before. It no longer reminds me of the horrible travisty. The characters are still sub-par for an Oz book, but they are getting better. Now if they could just leave the boring unicorn valley…
I love the cover of this book. It’s a beautiful picture of Ozma and she has the most fabulous dress. It’s a wonderful picture!

Ok, I just started reading The Emerald Wand of Oz by Sherwood Smith. It is a brand new Oz book “authorized” by the Baum Trust and published by HarperCollins. It’s interesting. I really liked the first chapter, which took place in the palace of the Emerald City and focused on Ozma and Glinda. After that, I started to have doubts. The book so far (after the first chapter) has centered on two little girls from modern day Kansas named “Em” and “Dori”. They are supposedly somehow related to Dorothy Gale. Dori has a magic snow globe from Oz that can show her what is happening to Ozma. This worries me because is reminds me uncomfortably of Dorothy - Return to Oz by Thomas L. Tedrow, which was a positively dreadful book. I hope it gets better! I really want this book to be good!

Ok, I’ve figured out what I’m going to do with this blog! I’m going to turn it into sort of a book group thing. I’m going to post about what I’m reading and what I’m thinking as I read it. I would love to hear from other people who have read the book, are reading it, whatever about what they think too. After I finish a book I write a review of it on my website, so final thoughts can always be read there, but will also probably be somewhat discussed here. So that’s the thought.

Ok, so I’ve had this empty journal sitting around for a while and decided it should have something. However, I do have an actual blog on my website, so don’t expect much. Check out http://www.pixiepalace.com for my blog. I might start mirror posting here or maybe I’ll make it friends only and use it as more of a private rant area. Who knows.
