Bone: Second Post (Characters)

Bone by Fae Myenne NgThe characters in this book are amazingly well-written and complex. Leila is a good narrator because she is sort of caught in the middle of the story and touches every other character. She sees how her mother is reacting to things and she knows how and why her mother blames herself for everything that happens. She knows where to find Leon and why he keeps everything and always runs away. She knows why Mason gets mad at her and that he wants to marry her. She knows why Nina lives in New York. The only one that she doesn’t understand is Ona, who is the one person that she really wishes that she understood. It’s sad, but also very realistic. I’m very impressed with the characters in this book.
