How the Wizard Came to Oz: Second Post (Oz Lore)
Much of this book is simply a rehash of things we already know (the witch used her first wish with the golden cap to drive the wizard out of the Winkie country, Gayelette’s story, etc.), but there are fun details that are new as well (Kalidahs are allergic to emerald dust, Glinda protected the wizard, etc.). I found the Scarecrow’s eye size discussion entertaining, but it’s sort of an inside joke and I doubt that many people would get it without being Oz dorks already! Overall this book is fairly entertaining, but not great. It’s certainly not as good as the cannon books.
