The Malachite Palace: Thoughts
This is a pretty picture book. The soft art is lovely and almost has a dreamy quality to it. the story is good and written excellently. Repetition is used wonderfully well. The ending seems slightly sudden to me (if she could just open the gate and go out and play, why didn’t she do it before?), but I actually don’t know how to improve it and it is moderately satisfying as is. The book is very simple, but I just love the art. The simplicity works well.
