This I Believe: Seventh Post (Trust and Pain)
I don’t really find the essays that simply justify a belief in God to be all that interesting. The more unique statements are much more fascinating. Warren Christopher, who I would have expected to not trust people very much, had a fabulous piece about how all the time are sharing little and big moments of trust with people we will likely never meet. It was a really interesting way of looking at the world, quite optimistic it its way. Mary Cook’s piece discussed surviving, living, through pain as being the hardest work one will ever do. She talked about hating accepting help and being taken care of while grieving for her fiance, but how it really was the hardest work she had ever done and will ever do and help was good. It was a very sweet, sad piece.
