Go Away, Dog: Thoughts
This is a really cute book with a little boy who thinks that he doesn’t like dogs and a dog who knows that he likes little boys! It has very simple vocabulary and is laid out wonderfully for very beginning readers. The pictures are cute and colorful and pretty much tell the story, even without the text! This isn’t one of my favorite beginning readers, but I can’t deny it’s quality. The story is sweet too, which is nice.

Go Away, Dog is a perfect match of story and illustration for beginning readers. My two first grade grandchildren and I love the humor of the story with just the right level of words and repetition.
