City of Crime: Third Post (Final Thoughts)
This was such a dark story! It really feels like it goes chronologically before Bruce Wayne: Murderer?, which was a little confusing. I really love the image of the city as a woman, but I don’t like it as a woman under Batman’s control. She clearly isn’t under Batman’s control. She is affected by him, but he is equally affected by her. It’s really more of a macabre dance than anything. Neither ever truly has control, they just have a constant dance going – like two lovers who can’t stop but are aren’t good for each other. The tempo of the dance varies, but the passion can never flag for long. At least, that’s how I see it, even in this book.
