Tiffany’s Table Manners for Teenagers: Third Post (Fingering)
The diagrams for how to hold a soup spoon are slightly better than the one for how to hold the serving fork for a main dish, but they could still be better. I kind of wonder why it matters so much if your thumb or your finger is higher on the spoon. I mean, it makes sense that it matters which way you tip the bowl, you don’t want soup in your lap, but why does the position of your thumb matter? I don’t get that one! I like rules that make sense.
