The Essays: Second Post (Lists)
It sounds like Bacon was rather insane. He made lists to memorize of arguments for debates on any topic that might ever conceivably come up. For each topic he made two lists, so that he would be prepared to argue either side. Clearly it never occurred to Bacon that there is more than two sides to any argument. Clearly many things never occurred to Bacon. He sounds like he was a very self-centered sort of thinker.
