Norse Myths and Classical Myths: Fifteenth Post (Ox Hide)
The ‘hide of an ox’ trick shows up in classical myths too. I think it appears in The Aeneid when Aeneas is claiming land for Carthage or something. I know it’s in there somewhere (I think around the Dido stuff). Obviously my memory of the specifics are a little fuzzy. It’s interesting that it shows up in both places. I wonder if that’s coincidence or if one influenced the other?
